EU ban on TPO in cosmetics from September 1, 2025: what does this mean for the nail industry

On 24 June 2024, the European Commission notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) of an update to the Cosmetics Regulation, including a ban on the use of CMR substances that may be carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic to reproduction. This list includes Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide, better known in the cosmetics industry as TPO.
